Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1-Motorists exiting Riverchase Way will be able to proceed straight and join the diverted Corley Mill Road traffic onto US 378 westbound or turn right onto Corley Mill Road.

2-Motorists turning left toward the Town of Lexington or I-20 will be able to utilize the newly created painted median (approximately 15 feet wide) to assist in merging into southbound Corley Mill Road traffic.

3-The new dual right turn will be signalized creating gaps in traffic to allow motorists exiting Riverchase Way to turn left or right.

Currently, traffic from US378/Ginny Lane/Corley Mill Road converges at one signalized intersection (A), creating long wait times and traffic congestion due to the number of traffic movements that need to be accommodated.

The Sunset Split will distribute traffic from one main intersection (A) to several new and existing signals with fewer movements (B, C, D, E, F). This new traffic pattern will result in shorter wait times per-light, allowing traffic to move through the area more quickly.

The "Ultimate Corley Mill Gateway Project" is comprised of several phases including the recently completed Ginny Lane intersection improvements and the I-20 exit ramp reconfiguration. The Sunset Split has been identified as the next phase of the Gateway Project, which will be followed by the Bypass. The Town of Lexington is actively working to identify funding to complete the Bypass.

Future improvements along Ginny Lane and Mineral Springs Road have been identified in the Town's Long-Range Transportation Plan. Funding for these projects has yet to be identified.
Improved access for residents and businesses along Darby Ambrose Road and Park Place Trail at US 378 is being actively investigated.
The Town, in cooperation with Lexington County, is actively considering new sites. The goal is to find a location to conveniently service existing customers.
As part of the Town's Long-Range Transportation Plan, all roads are being designed to allow for the accommodation and expansion of a future sidewalk network. Bike lanes will not be included in the project.
Emergency vehicle access will not be disrupted as a result of the change in traffic flow. The realignment is expected to improve overall response times due to a decrease in the traffic queue and improved maneuverability. The Town is coordinating with Lexington County Emergency Services to provide accommodations at the intersection of Corley Mill Road and Riverchase Way.
The Town of Lexington, in coordination with the SCDOT, is proposing to restore the Park and Ride within the existing right-of-way adjacent to its current location.
