1-Motorists exiting Riverchase Way will be able to proceed straight and join the diverted Corley Mill Road traffic onto US 378 westbound or turn right onto Corley Mill Road.
2-Motorists turning left toward the Town of Lexington or I-20 will be able to utilize the newly created painted median (approximately 15 feet wide) to assist in merging into southbound Corley Mill Road traffic.
3-The new dual right turn will be signalized creating gaps in traffic to allow motorists exiting Riverchase Way to turn left or right.
Currently, traffic from US378/Ginny Lane/Corley Mill Road converges at one signalized intersection (A), creating long wait times and traffic congestion due to the number of traffic movements that need to be accommodated.
The Sunset Split will distribute traffic from one main intersection (A) to several new and existing signals with fewer movements (B, C, D, E, F). This new traffic pattern will result in shorter wait times per-light, allowing traffic to move through the area more quickly.
